At Hand Therapy of Michigan, our goal is to provide our patients with high-quality services like treatments for hand pain or discomfort that will meet their needs and help them get back to a pain-free routine. We know that our clients experience a better quality of life when their hands, arms, or shoulders hurt less and, to accomplish that, we focus on providing attentive, effective hands-on treatments, including massage, stretching, and mobilization.

Employing modern, evidence-based approaches, our Certified Hand Therapists complete extensive training and continuing education to maintain their credentials, far beyond the state and national requirements for a general Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist. When you come to us, you’re getting the absolute best treatment for your condition and, more importantly, you’re receiving treatments that are customized to address your specific needs.

Hand pain and discomfort services

If you’ve recently undergone surgery, suffered an injury, or are experiencing a condition that causes pain or discomfort in your hand, arm, or shoulder, you can be confident that the team at Hand Therapy of Michigan is here for you. Our responsive team of experts and professionals will work with you to understand your situation, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop a plan that incorporates a wide range of treatment options.

Hands-on treatment

Our knowledge and expertise with hands-on care is what makes our clinic different. We take time to prepare your joints and muscles with massage, stretching, and mobilization before completing a targeted exercise program. Whatever treatments for hand pain you require, our team provides them to bring comfort back.

Custom splinting

Splints can be used for immobilization, exercise, pain relief, or to increase function. Whatever the need is, our therapists can fabricate a splint specifically for your situation. We fabricate all our splints in house and don’t outsource them to third parties or other facilities. If an off-the-shelf splint is a better option for you, we have many varieties of those in stock, too.

Guided exercises to fit your needs

We don’t take a “one size fits all” approach to your condition. We will look at your symptoms while monitoring your progress and guide you through an exercise program to meet your goals and needs.

Return to work and return to play rehab

How you function in your world is at the core of what we do. We will listen to the problems you are having and tailor a rehab program that will allow you to return the things you need to do and the things you want to do.

Prosthesis training (myoelectric and body powered)

We work closely with prosthetists to provide a functional rehab program for individuals using a prosthesis. Once you’ve learned how to operate your prosthesis, we will collaborate with you on completing tasks and activities that are important to you.

Friendly, patient-centered care

We love what we do and we want you to enjoy your time in our clinic. Whether you’re talking to one of our therapists on the phone or greeting us in the clinic, you will always be met with a friendly face and positive attitude that is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.

Activity analysis

We’ll look at your daily tasks and modify how you complete them if they are contributing to your condition. Changing how you hold a plate, carry a bag, or use yard equipment, for example, may have a profound effect on how quickly you improve. We will also monitor and manage your return to meaningful activities after surgery or injury.
